Frog Lake First Nation woman hired as etalk's first Indigenous host
Michaella Montana hopes this will open doors for more Indigenous people
When people tune in to watch CTV's daily entertainment show this coming January, they will be greeted by the program's first full-time Indigenous host.
Michaella Montana announced on social media on Dec. 13 that she got the gig to be the full-time co-host on CTV's entertainment talk show etalk.

eTalk’s recent hiring of Michaella Montana as its first Indigenous full-time host was a big, head-turning win for First Nations representation in mainstream broadcast media.
Besides being a first for CTV’s national entertainment news show, it was also the Frog Lake First Nation, Edmonton-born journalist’s dream for years — hoping to literally change the narrative.

A Plains-Cree woman from Frog Lake First Nation is making waves with her modelling and television work. Twenty-three-year-old Michaella Shannon has been modelling since she was 14, and is still processing seeing herself on a billboard in Toronto’s Yonge-Dundas Square.
“It is a very proud moment for me, and my family, and my community. It’s a little surreal, a little weird to see myself everywhere, not just on a billboard at Dundas Square,” says Shannon.
